Disconnect To Reconnect *

I didn’t realize how disconnected and dysregulated I was until I had children. I had managed to minimally function in order to get by in an environment that wasn’t keen to accommodating my emotional needs. Instead it was celebrated when I managed to make feelings disappear and get things done. I pushed through and in turn I faced physical and mental challenges. For me the physical and mental ailments manifested in diagnoses like endometriosis, PMDD, PCOS, anxiety, depression and an eating disorder in my early teen years. My body became louder and louder the longer I ignored it.

I think in some sense this story is familiar to many sensitive individuals. We learn quickly that our emotions are too much, too big, so we mask in order to feel digestable. The trouble is, that the more we mask, the more we push those feelings away, the further disconnected we are and the louder our body will get in order to be heard.

Having my children was that LOUD moment for me. Two unplanned pregnancies that consisted of perinatal and postnatal depression and anxiety. My perfectionism was no longer sustainable. I was regularly alternating between panic attacks and low lows. I was trying to teach my children how to feel big feelings, but I didn’t know how to feel them myself. I felt afraid to FEEL anything beyond happy. When things came to a head I was forced to learn how to allow myself to feel and feel safe in doing so. I offered acceptance and love towards the uncomfortable. I removed so much of the noise. I leaned into somatics, breathework, nature and developed a tool kit that helped me survive. I truly disconnected from so much externally in order to RECONNECT with myself.

This is not to say that I am a magical human that has all of the answers and no longer experiences ebs and flows. I am human and will forever be a work in progress. I can see the beauty in that now. I have however, personally seen how little support there is for women in this space and that is why I felt called to create it. Here you will find support and community, and most importantly acceptance and validation. This is a safe space for you and if you have found my page, TRUST whatever led you here. I really hope I can support you in some way.

Warmly,

Kristen
